Aluminum chloride gel application

Armpits and / or groins.

1. At bedtime, wash and blow-dry (without heat) thoroughly the armpits before applying a thin layer of the gel on the armpits. Rubbing or applying the gel on a recently shaved skin should be avoided.

2. Limit the application of the gel to the active area of sweating on the armpits, if detected. The active area could be located by observing a tissue paper being stained by the underlying sweat. Even if the active area fails to be identified, application of the gel should rarely exceed the hairy area.

3. For minor irritations, a hydrocortisone cream could be applied an hour before the application of the gel and 15 minutes later if needed. If irritation still persists, stop the medication and contact your doctor. In most cases, treatment could resume by lowering the frequency of application or the concentration of aluminum chloride.

4. Two to three treatments per week at bedtime are initially needed. Once the sweating becomes under control, the frequency of application is gradually decreased to once a week or less.. The optimal frequency varies from one person to another. The use of the gel for extended periods (18 months or more) could permanently stop the excessive sweating.

5. Concentrations of aluminum chloride higher than 15% need to be refrigerated in order to prolong their shelf life. The gel is usually taken out an hour before its use. The gel controls the odors as well and makes the use of deodorants unnecessary .

Hands and / or feet.

1. At bedtime, wash and blow-dry (without heat) thoroughly the hands or feet before applying a thin layer of the gel on the palms or soles.

2. The product should be applied on the hands and feet nightly. Control of palmar sweating could take as long as six weeks. Control of plantar sweating is achieved faster. Once the sweating is controlled, the gel applications are distanced to once or twice a week or less. The optimal frequency varies from one person to another and could be as low as once a month. Some patients found that the use the gel for 5 to 7 consecutive nights offers a month long relief.

3. Concentrations of aluminum chloride higher than 15% need to be refrigerated in order to prolong their shelf life. The gel cannot be used in children without the approval of a physician. It is recommended to stir the gel with a sterile spatula before its use.

4. This gel also controls “smelly feet” whenever present.

Forehead and scalp.

1. At bedtime, wash and blow-dry (without heat) thoroughly the forehead and the scalp before applying a thin layer of the gel on the forehead (close to the hairline) and ∕or tha back of the scalp.

2. For minor irritations, a hydrocortisone cream could be applied an hour before the application of the gel and 15 minutes later if needed. If irritation still persists, stop the medication and contact your doctor. In most cases, treatment could resume by lowering the frequency of application or the concentration of aluminum chloride.

3. Two to three treatments per week at bedtime are initially needed. Once the sweating becomes under control, the frequency of application is decreased to once a week or less. The optimal frequency varies from one person to another.

4. Keep the gel refrigerated to maintain its efficacy.
